I had a baby and got him on meuchedet. They told me I have 6 months until I start paying if I don't get on Bituach Leumi. I was away and came back and now never took care of it.
I realize we all have student visas as family but from before he was born.

1. Do I need a student visa in order to sign him up for Bituach Leumi?

2. How do I go about getting an appointment for a student visa? I heard you now have to go in person to make an appointment, is that true? Last year I just dropped off stuff and picked it up when ready.

Any info would be greatly appreciated as time is of importance! As if 2 days I will have to start paying 100 shek a month if not taken care of.

TIA

You do need a student visa for each child. I don't have the number handy but if you search this site I think it's around a number to call and get an appoint. or you can fax a request and they'll call you back to make an appt.

ETA: IT's not actually a student visa it's an A4 I believe. For family of the student (spouse and children).

Is this recent? I know they changed it within the last year.

You can submit a request for an appointment here: http://piba.gov.il/usefullinfo......aspx
You won't get an appointment for a few weeks, but once you have one you go in with all your documents and they do it on the spot.

I went in person to get an appointment, and it was still a six week wait.
