I do not go to the doctor for coughs/colds generally because the doctor usually says there is nothing he can do so I wait it out. My dd (2) has had a bad cough for about 2 weeks but I never took her in. My son (10 months) just got sick but was screaming the whole night even after I gave Motrin for fever so I took him in and he had an ear infection. My question is how do I know when to take a child in? How would I have known he had an ear infection if I chose to just wait and see if he gets better? When do you bring your child in? If a cough is persistent for more than 2 weeks, I would probably go in so I may take my dd in soon as she still coughs a lot.
Should I give motrin for fever from an ear infection or does the fever help to fight the infection? (I am giving antibiotics also but just started.) Do you always give motrin for fever or is it important for the fever to help the body?
For my toddler, how much vitamin c is safe to give? Is it dangerous to have too much? She gets some from foods and I don't want to give her a supplement with too much in it. If you can recommend an exact supplement of vitamin c for kids with exact dosage for a 2 year old, I would appreciate it.
Do you need to give vitamin d to a completely breastfed baby? What happens if he does not get vitamin d?

I would definitely go to the doctor if the child has been coughing for two weeks as it could be an infection. I am in Israel and all babies here are given vitamin d breastfed or not. I would speak to your doctor about giving Motrin on top of the anitbiotics and about the vitamin c. You can also ask him about when you should bring your children in.
