My 15 y.o. Hamilton Beach blender is making a loud noise, rubber on blade assembly is disintegrating.

Hamilton Beach Cust Support said I need to replace blade assembly which will cost about $12, with shipping. I can get a totally new blender for $25, I think. Guy I spoke to at Hamilton Beach Cust Support said the old ones are made better, he would replace blade assembly. BUT, if anything else goes wrong, Im not within warranty.
