Id like to pay someone a flat rate for designing a kitchen, because I think the better kitchen designers generally work with the most expensive kitchen manufacturers, and Im not looking to go that high, pricewise.

Please only recommend someone (in Brooklyn) you know many people used and have been happy with.

I am not a designer by trade nor do I have too much experience but I have designed a few kitchens, started with my own, and do enjoy doing it.
I wouldn't mind giving you some ideas and helping you out a little but I don't sell cabinets. I can see if the guy I got mine from will work with you (he's a wholesaler) if not you can take the design into a place and price it out.
From my own experience I saw that when you have a design they are willing to give you a significant break on the price.
