Its about 20 minutes or so (traffic dependent) to 41st street....where many of the kosher places are at.....you can call to see if anyone delivers....or go there....its def closer than Aventura

Aventura is not close at all, the closest restaurants are in Miami beach. If you do a search you'll find lots of posts about Miami beach restaurants.

Holy bagel has good food but Miami beach is closer than downtown.

not renting a car for a day, so was hoping for something walkable, which I guess this is not.
Are taxis prohibitively expensive?

It's probably $20-30 for a taxi to Miami beach or downtown. There's also a very cheap bus from the airport to Miami beach, I think something like $1.50. It stops on 41 st where lots of the kosher restaurants are.
