You can be dressed very classy, in a sleeveless dress that doesn't cover your knees.

I guess our definitions of classy differ then.
I'm serious. Many people view tznius as rules and restrictions. I view it as an expression of dignity, not revealing what I don't want to is part of that. I happen to not enjoy showing off my knees lol.

100%.
I am a strong believer that tznius means class and modesty means professional and elegant. It can be a sleevless dress or an above knee skirt suit. It is how you wear and present.
Love these women they look so fab.

Part of "class" is also "appropriateness for the occasion."
I was with my parents in Florida during the first part of the week, where my father was undergoing minor surgery. I don't usually watch TV, but Mom and Dad are glued to the all-news stations.
It was hilarious to watch newscasters in sleeveless dresses delivering the latest prognostications about the New England snow storm with full blizzard video in the background. I'm not saying they should have been costumed like snow bunnies, but c'mon. It seems a little obvious that this wasn't a case of the producers telling them to follow their own judgment . . .

Fox, ITA.
To take your point a step further, "appropriate for the ocasion" for a bas melech is to always cover what needs to be covered...
And that varies on timing (niddah, etc) location (kitchen, bedroom, street, swimming pool) and audience (husband, strangers, females.)
