Is coconut kosher for passover. I take something called Monolaurin which is made from coconut lauric acid to help my immune system. Would that be permissible on Pesach?
Also what is Glycerol. Is that kosher for Passover, or even just plain kosher or is it an animal derivative. Thanx for your response.

Yes coconut is kosher for passover. However there has been a case where chometz alcohol was used to disinfect the production tools. It may be preferable to swallow it while enclosed in kosher capsule.

Happy kosher & healthy Yom Tov

My rabbi said if it's recommended or prescribed by a dr, I should take it regardless. Not everyone agrees.

This kind of question is not silly at all, and should be directed to your posek. AYLOR.

Of course coconut is kosher. From what do you think they make all those pesach maccarons? Smile

From wikipedia:
Quote:
Glycerol can be either synthetic, or derived from plants (usually soybeans) or animals (usually tallow). It can also be a blend of both animal and vegetable oils.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glycerol

It might be klp or not.

I agree with PAMOM re: medications during pesach, but not everyone does. I would advise asking your doctor as well as your rav.

Also you can check out the star k book. It has the medicine list for pesach in it. Not all medicines are included but they have a list of common problematic ingredients I believe. they also state that if dr prescribed, especially for severe chronic conditions, don't stop without talking to your doctor.
