I have no idea of what has a good chance of profitability. I'm in Heimishtown, Brooklyn and I have no connections to any product to sell.

In our family we joke about opening up a surfboard store in Postville Iowa. When I was in Brooklyn (CH) a few months ago I could not understand why there was only one gas station in all of Crown Hts and why no one opened up a second one but there is probably no room for it. I guess that those businesses that do well are in areas where there is a real demand for those products.

you have to look round carefully and see what service your area is lacking that people could use.
2nd thing to think about---- are you the business type? Do you have a business head, know how to respond when people will try to haggle you down in price, take care of management, invoicing etc?

I think the main thing in business is to do what you know. Do you have a talent or a special interest? Just having the vague goal of opening up a business is not really a start.

A lot of businesses fail. Are you sure you want to do this?
