I'm writing an ad for a dinner journal. please enlighten me about captialization and punctuation for the ad.

In memory of
xxxxxxxx
A sensitive, thoughtful , and caring friend
Your smile is truly missed by all

I'd put a period at the end, and probably one after "friend"too.

You need a comma after the name. Technically, putting a period after "friend" would make the words before it a fragment but it's colloquially done. I'm a stickler for correct punctuation so would put -- or : after the word "friend." In any case, you need a period after "friend."

You do NOT need a comma after the person's name. This is an ad, not a sentence in a letter. You typeset it with each line of text centered, thus:

In Loving Memory
of
WHATSHERNAME WHATSHERNAME
a"h or z"l or obm
A sensitive, thoughtful, and caring friend.
Your smile is truly missed by all.

H'mmm. I don't know--I notice punctuation, even in ads. Zaq, you want an Oxford comma in an ad with a sentence fragment?
