Are these the ones that are personalised to be identical to a stillborn or baby who died at a very young age?
Not my thing, but some people claim it helps them process their loss and grief and is a form of momento.

My friend had one of these. Very creepy. If you get one, look after it. Once the paint chips it doesn't look real any more.

I've read about these dolls. I believe many of them are purchased by women who either have not had babies, or have lost babies, G-d forbid. To me, they simply show how desperately many women long to have babies. I don't think we should make unkind comments about these dolls, even if they may seem creepy or disturbing.

The first one looks EXACTLY like DD did at that age.
Google "uncanny valley" to find out why we are so creeped out by the idea. It's a fascinating psychological phenomenon.
