As another school year approaches I really need to deal with the school lunch issue. We don't buy it for my younger kids (7,11) bc it's so expensive. I buy for my teenage boy bc he's in yeshiva and out such a long day that he needs a hot filling lunch. My older kids are out of the house.
I want to stop sending noodles and cream cheese sandwiches. It's just so unhealthy. Anyone have any other ideas for healthy lunches that font need to be heated up? And of course that won't break the bank.
TIA!

slices veggies and tuna salad
whole grain bread and peanut butter (if PB is allowed)
real cheese, veggies, whole grain bread
hamburger on a whole wheat bun. It tastes fine cold.
yogurt and granola
pizza, also tastes fine at room temp
soy burgers on a ww bun
chicken cutlet sandwich- tastes fine cold

make a list divided into three categories: protein, veggie/fruit, starch. list all the foods in these categories that your kids are willing to eat. mix and match. there is nothing wrong with leftovers from supper the night before.

A lot of dinner leftovers are fine cold.
Are you allowed meat lunches.
Shred leftover chicken with a little mayo, chop apple and celery into it.
My kids loved stuffed pepper or tomato with tuna, cottage cheese, egg salad or chicken salad.
Meatloaf sandwich, slice leftover meatloaf thinly, I hide a lot of veggies in my meatloaf making it super healthy.
Make mini kugels in muffin pan, basically shredded veggies, egg, salt and pepper to taste. Keep these in the freezer.
