Just wondering about all of your opinions...
My 9 yr old daughter wanted a shoulder bag for school. I wanted her to have a knapsack for reasons of her comfort.(sounds serious.... 😉)
Anyways what would you tell her
" you're getting a knapsack , go and choose one". Or leave the choice of knapsack vs shoulder bag to her?

Let her pick. I give my kids the choice when it is harmless. This way they can either learn from their mistakes or get confidence.

It's okay to set limits regarding price, replacement policy, etc.
But within whatever common-sense parameters you set, let her choose what she wants.
Whatever happens, though, be gracious about it. If she loves the shoulder bag, don't make snide remarks about it. If it ultimately doesn't work out, don't do the "I told you so dance."
Hatzlacha!
