My kitchen aid broke down. The piece that is supposed to make the beater spin doesn't move. Has anyone had this happen before? I want to know if it's worth it to fix or buy a new one. I have this one about five years now.

I called kitchen aid. They couldn't give me a price quote over the phone. I can call a small appliance repair guy but he may charge me just to have a look at it.
