You might get more responses if you define "great". Ruth Handler created the Barbie doll.
Was she great? She did seem to be have been a bit of trouble with the SEC at one point-does that lessen her "greatness"?

ETA Edith Flagg is not well known but she survived the Holocaust and cane to the US with nothing. She died last year a multi millionaire. She brought polyester to the world of fashion and had a clothing line. Fascinating woman if you google her. Her grandson was on a TV show and devoted to her so she would appear. There was an episode where they went to the concentration camp where she was held. Her first husband died in the camps and she remarried and built her new life.
