I would stick to very standard foods--chicken soup/kneidlach, gefilta fish or salmon, shnitzle, salads, potato kugel, luckshin kugel, shehakol dessert like ice creams
...Unless they are sefardi. If so, you need a completely different menu that I can't help with.

I second what others said, especially the shnitzel.
And perhaps if you could put out some salatim as a first course.
Israelis also are big on borekas type things -with meat or potatoes inside.

Just curious, is that very different from what (ashcenazi) people have in Chu"l?

Just make whatever food you usually make.

Ask the mom what they usually eat! Not all cook the same. I have one child who won't touch chicken soup another who doesn't eat fish and one who doesn't eat red meat.

Lots of salatim is a good idea. (Israeli, Ashkenazi DH who think they are the seudah. The rest is add-ons because you are "supposed" to have them.)
