What do you give for a Pidyon Haben as a gift?

It's their first child so clothes is very appropriate. A nice stretchy with matching hat. A blanket, you can get the name embroidered those are really nice. A baby toy, like a jungle gym, the ones the baby lie underneath.
Or sometimes the parents register at babies r us or buy buy baby, and you can pick something from the register.

I checked online and their name doesn't Come up on a registry. I gave a nice outfit for the Bris.

it's redundant & unnecessary to give 2 presents for the same baby within a month of the birth ... unless you are his rich aunt/relative & just love buying things

The problem is I didn't realize when I went to the Bris I would be invited to a Pidyon Haben so I would have waited to give

It's not a problem. Your present is per baby, not per party. One baby = one present.

Anyone here that actually made a Pidyon haben can answer the question if they only got one gift for the baby?

I made a pidyon and I didnt get two gifts from anybody. If you've given already then you dont have to give again.
