With my teenagers on the phone all night, I'm considering getting a second phone line (landline). Any recommendations for the most economical option? VoIP? What company? Or is there some other technology now? TIA!

Google Voice with the OBI. You buy a piece of equipment for $30-$40 and then set up a Google Voice line for free with no monthly charge. It is voip and works off the internet. Comes with caller ID, voicemail, and call waiting. You can even send/receive texts through the phone number online.
