Even my yiddish speaking friend has never heard of it

Do you mean what Nochem calls Libby? I thought it might be a diminutive of "shtern" or star, like "my little star" but I also hadn't heard it before.

And consider that the actors actually learned some Yiddish and my DH says some spoke it pretty convincingly.

So I asked someone who speaks yiddish as their first langugage what it means and he explained that it's a small lid of a cooking pot. So it basically means something small and sweet and cute and that fits quite perfectly.
I find it bizzarre to call someone that but it kinda sounds quite neat too!

Quote found online:

'Every Teppele has a Shtertzele' = Every "pot" has a "lid"

its a yiddish saying
'yeide tup hut zein shtertzele'
meaning every pot has its cover. its usually refers to a newlywed couple that complement/understand each other very well.
never heard of shtertzele as a nickname on a kid. (have heard it on a spouse...) you live and you learn, I guess.

Started watching, I'm in love with this show. But this looks like it's missing episode 10? Anywhere else I can watch that episode?

My guess is you'll have to wait for season 2 to be available on DVD
