I keep seeing posts on message boards/Facebook whatever asking for big things like shoveling a driveway and house or babysitting kids for the day or moving furniture from another neighborhood. At the end of these posts they write "willing to pay". Do they really expect people to do these things for free for them? It is very different than writing looking to pay someone to do xyz.....
Anyone else notice this? Am I the only one who thinks its weird?
Anon cuz we were just having this convo today in real life while out shoveling.

You'd be surprised what some people have asked me to do - without offering to pay.

No, that's why they write "willing to pay". It things that people also do for no charge

I think it's just a bad choice of words. When people write "willing to pay" it's more their way of saying "obviously this is for pay, in case anyone was worried."

Sometimes teens do small jobs for chesed hours. Indicating that the job is for pay expands the possible pool of applicants.

To me it means "I wish I had the kind of good friend (or son or husband or sister) who would do this for me as a favor, but until that happens I'm willing to pay someone else. Any takers?"
