My son has had these weird stomach aches for the last couple months.
I have been trying to try different food combinations to see what helps.
gluten seemed to help a little.
now my son has come to me and told me that he started seeing blood often when he goes to the bathroom....
I have an appt with a top pediatric gastro next week.
I hope its not too serious. I am trying very hard not to start googling.
I don't want something to be really wrong with him and he will have a hard life

I would speak to my pediatrician about the stomach aches and blood in the stool.

I wouldn't wait for the gastro appointment to check it out.

I have been seeing her a lot lately and she said it is ok to wait the week as long as he is acting the same.
I did some blood tests and a basic ultrasound.
I am sure the new gastro will do more extensive testing now that I know about the blood.

Hopefully the blood is just hemorrhoids! I've had them since I was in my late teens (associated with IBS). If he's clearly seeing blood on the toilet paper as opposed to floating in the toilet, it's most likely hemorrhoids. Not that it shouldn't get checked out, but just to calm you down that it may be nothing super-serious.

Is he seeing blood in the toilet or on his tissues. When one goes to the bathroom often, there can b irritation and soreness which explains blood on the tissue.

I am not sure.
He is 6 and he does not want to talk about it so much, he just wants to go outside and play with the neighbors BH.
I don't want to ask him too many questions either. I don't want him to think I am worrying about it.

Does your pedi know about the blood? If not, it would be wise to alert her immediately. Not to scare you as it could be hemorrhoids, but it could also be more serious than that.

My cousin's daughter had those symptoms and ended up being diagnosed with celiac disease. She is fine now that she is on the diet.
