I had a Jewish, babysitter for most of 2.5 years. I was overall satisfied since she took generally good care of my kids, and I really had no complaints. I never nanny-cammed her, but I never felt the need to. The one strange thing is that while she came to be on someone else's recommendation, I don't remember who. Anyway I don't need her anymore and I've been trying to find her new work, but she's having a hard time sticking with other people. Recently she worked for a friend of mine and it ended suddenly. When I asked what happened--because I was so surprised, based on what she told me, I don't think it would've been a reason that I would have fired her, and it sounded out of character for the person that I knew for over 2 years--and continue to speak to. When people ask me for references, I feel I have no choice to give the "newer" reference, but then people automatically say "no" to her without giving her a chance. What's so strange is that I don't think my friend told the babysitter what happened. So now I'm stuck in the middle, the babysitter needs the work, and she keeps asking me why no one will hire her, but I don't know what to tell her.
