Thanks, it's so much cheaper that I took a chance on it and bought it. I read that using non brand name ink cartridges can kill the printer, but I can't resist at this price.

Unlikely to kill an inkjet. Generally it would just risk poor quality and drying out faster. Also some printers nowadays have detectors built in that would recognize if you're using approved inks.
Laser printers is more risky. Toner works differently than ink.

I hope it works out. I've found with my printer that it's still much cheaper to use generic even if I have to replace the printer sooner. I've been using generic for a few months now with no issues.

Thats a smart way to look at it. I paid about $100 for my printer and I pay over $200 a year for ink cartridges, and I dont even use it that much. If I kill the printer, I just get a new one.

If you don't need color, black ink is much cheaper.

Some printers won't print black if the color ink is empty. That's a pain.
Totally agree that a new printer is often cheaper than keeping up the ink. Which is sad for the environment but sometimes you have to do what makes sense for you. A really great printer is worth keeping but a standard quality one is usually cheaper to replace. The companies often sell printers at a loss to make a profit on the supplies.
