Looking for somewhere to go for an extended weekend from lakewood not too far (maybe 3 hrs ) and preferably something larger than a hotel room. I don't mind bringing food.

Embassy suites has hotel rooms that are suites so its not the tiny average hotel room.
If you have the money to spend, maybe a weekend in the raleigh hotel would be ideal. They offer delicious food and have beautiful parks and play areas for the kids.
Renting a place in one of the camps or countries in the Catskills can be an idea too.

Hyatt House has 2 bedroom units; there's one in Mt. Laurel, NJ, not far from Lakewood and minyan and kosher food in Cherry Hill, and just across the bridge from activities in Philly (and Camden even before the bridge).

Thanks, even 2 bdrms is tight with 5 kids KAH. Maybe I'm looking for more of a condo rental somewhere near frum? Is that something unreasonable?

With that many kids you would probably be better off renting a house through airbnb or vrbo.
