I'm looking for ideas for picking out a Corelle pattern that looks elegant for Shabbos. I have rose, victorian-looking china and it's beautiful but it's mostly chipped and I need something much more practical and cheap and with more pieces.
If I get something like Apricot Grove or Garden Lace and put it on chargers is that nice? Or should I just go with white?
And if I need service for 16 do I just buy 4 16 piece sets? But I really don't need mugs.
Is there another, equally practical alternative to corelle?

You can go to target and check out Bella Faenza. Online photos don't do it justice. It looks and feels quite nice. I think there are 18-pc 6-place settings that come without mugs, google it.

You can do a search on here... About 2 years ago, I was going through the same thing. I chose Bella Faenza, and have been very pleased with my choice.
I love that it's lightweight and since it's so thin, I have enough room one one shelf to hold service for 16. Of course, it doesn't look as elegant as China, but with a nice tablecloth, napkin rings, etc... my table definetly looks shabbosdik.
You can order open stock from the Corelli website-- that way you can buy only what you need (no mugs). They have sales on a regular basis, plus they usually offer free shipping on purchase above a certain amount.
Alternatively, if you live in a metropolitan area, it's very likely that you shave a Corelle/ works kitchen outlet within an hour drive. You should call ahead and see if they have in stock the patterns you are considering.

Just got these.
I ordered set because didn't find cheaper and had no patience to search.
But I really would've loved the lunch size plates and dinner plates and bowls and that's it.
You can us silver charger to make look more elegant.
Like others said with napkin rings, nice napkins, glasses....

we got this one for pesach for meat. It looks nicer in real life than in the picture. It is quite elegant, its partly the shape that looks good, but it really is nice. I keep wishing we had this one for chomez too!

We have a nice one, but I didn't see it on their website. Maybe it's no longer produced?

I buy from Corelle.com & get from open stock, so just large & small plates or just bowls, or what ever I need to fill out the service.
They usually have some % off if you buy 12 or more. You can watch the site & I think close to Thanksgiving they will have some sales.

Just make sure when you order to note what size plates etc. you are buying. I bought some bowls & found that 10 oz bowls are pretty small. All good, since there are many small people in my house. But 18 oz or 22 oz square bowls are what you will want for Shabbas soup service.

Corelle is always running sales at the outlet stores and often on their website. We just bought some open stock Winter Frost White – half price – at a Corelle outlet for everyday.
