Personally, I like the cube storage organizers. However, it really depends on what type of toys your children have. If they mostly have individual larger toys then the cube organizers don't work as well. If they have toys with lots of smaller pieces (ie. doll clothes, train set, toy food) then it works really nicely. Keep in mind that if you use such an item then you need to have the space for another piece of furniture in the room.

varying little boxes in shelves
medium things in colourful milk crates that pile upon one another
big "toy boxes" for bigger items - but buy basic rubbermaid, sterilite, or similar types as they are way cheaper
