Plan to transfer to Marseilles for a Shabbos stay in December. I do not know the community in Marseilles at all. Is there a neighborhood with hotels and a shul?

I am happy you feel safe in Marseille, though many consider Paris safer. It's a huge place and I don't know my way around it. You should contact the consistoire of Marseille or call a shul.
