Does anyone have any idea on how to move stuff from NY to Chicago WITHOUT having to pay money that we dont have at the moment (we have been getting quotes of 2500+)...also, would anyone's husband be interested in driving back with my husband if we do a uhaul truck and then we will pay for a flight back-this seems to be our cheapest option...

U may be able to find someone willing to do that, but most people who do this want to get paid. A lot of people who make such a move sell their furniture and purchase new furniture.

Why not see if you can find something at the chesed fund for now? You can always bring your furniture etc in a different time, but for now I imagine it would be easier to settle down (seems from your posts like you're here for a while already) if you had something.
