Our friends who are not really religious are making a birthday party for their son. They'll be doing a "ceremony" of donning kippah and tzitzis but no real haircut/upsherin.
What would be an appropriate gift? I would like it to be something "jewish".

Uncle mousy dvd. Better yet, go to the judaica store, they should have a nice selection of Jewish themed toys.

We're OOT so Judaica stores here do not really carry the "standard" jewish toys.
Any recommendations I can get online?

Most of the jewish themed toys are sold on amazon as well. Try searching mitzvah family I believe they have stuff on amazon

Check out www.yidclick.com you should find all jewish stuff there. Maybe a nice kids puzzle. They have a bunch of jewish themed ones for that age

I second the Kidkraft Shabbat set. My kids love it. Hanukkah set also great.
