One Chanuka my DD was gifted with a toy that had various VERY LOUD animal sounds that could be selected and played over and over. Way to drive parents up the wall. DH says it should be illegal to make kids toys THAT LOUD.

How does something like this for a three year old make sense? I was not happy to find all that glitter EVERYWHERE for the next half year or so.

Toys that light up, play annoying music, etc. The kid just sits there and presses a button to watch the toy play, rather than playing with the toy and using his imagination.

A toy Trumpet.
My 2 year old happily woke me up this morning by blowing the trumpet that my mother in law bought for him. He had a big smile and knew he was doing something funny!
Anon because I told my mother in law this story

I keep it in a relatively shallow container with a wide base. When I want to stay ahead of even that, I only give the kids a bowl of beads at a time with the big container staying on a high shelf. If the bowl of beads spills I am OK with just vacuuming it up because who cares, we have so many anyway, even with waste they will surely outlast the kids' attention span for them... Cool

Oh and my addition to the list: Things that have no purpose other than sitting around collecting dust. My children do not have curio cabinets. They do not even have desks or nighttables. If they did, I still wouldn't want them to be cluttered with knickknacks, but as it is we live in a small apartment and just have no room for anything that isn't very functional. Even if we did have room for it it doesn't provide any value.

candies and nosh.
If you really need to buy food for my child PULEEZ don't buy the shiniest rainbow colored elastic object sold as candy.
There are so many healthy choices that are also considered nosh in the kinder world. I would love to see my child getting sweet potatoe baked chips, apple or banana chips, flavored rice cakes. and so on.
