6 kids kah, 3 bedrooms and one on the way. Not tight at all. Secret is no clutter. Live in Brooklyn

The secret is also the size of the bedrooms... there are some bedrooms that have room for exactly one bed and others that can fit 4 beds.

Also sizes of bedrooms.
I posted that I have 5 kids in 1 bedroom.
The room fits 3 twin beds, 1 toddler bed, 1 regular crib, and 2 chest dressers, plus there is a closet and still enough room to walk between beds comfortably.

4 kids kah. Apartment is officially 3 br, but effectively 2. The 3rd br is tiny and used for office / storage / computer. The other two bedrooms are medium.

Israel. 10 kids ka"h. 4 tiny bedrooms. It's crowded, but that's also because I'm a terrible housekeeper and there's stuff all over the place.

3 kids, 4 bedrooms. Carved one out of the attic but fine for older child.
I shared a room with my sister growing up and we killed each other. It was very important to me for each of my kids to have their own private space.
I'm on Long Island

5 kids, k"ah. Four bedrooms and a guest room. Three all in one room, one kid in each of the other two, because neither can share with anyone for various reasons (including developmental). One of the three may be moving to the guest room, but my in laws come a lot, so that's complicated. New Jersey.

Brooklyn. 5 kids, 3 bedrooms. We also have a basement and I dropped a wall in there to create a tiny private room for the oldest boy.

I disagree that size of bedrooms matter.
When you have many kids, you need many rooms. There is no way I can put five kids to sleep in the same bedroom. I will have five cranky kids because there's no way they're falling asleep with so many in one room.
Additionally, it's not only about having sleeping space. You can stuff in a trundle bunkbed into the tiniest of rooms and sleep 3. But those same 3 kids will probably not have enough closet space, living space, playing space, and breathing space. More bedrooms, regardless of size, equals more overall space.
