Anyone here hire a DJ for a small Bat Mitzvah? How much did it cost you? Or did you hire a different type of entertainment?

I just got quotes from 2 DJs. One was $1500 for just the DJ, and another one was $1000 plus $250 for a motivator.
We have decided, however, not to go the dance party route.

In New Jersey, 5 years ago, 3 hour brunch party: $850
May have gone up since then.
ETA: Actually it was a keyboardist/singer, not a DJ.

Ever heard of "the live game show"? Very well worth your money entertainment where e/o gets involvedn. probably cost around same if not less than dj
