I have two pillows and I change them throughout the night to get the coolness. DH has something called a chillow, you fill the pillow with water and it stays cool all night.

If you have the custom made linen sets from the Jewish stores, you are supposed to sleep on the other side so the first side stays nice. Also we've noticed the dry from dh's yarmulka rubbing off on the pillowcases.

I bought ds the chillow, it leaked.

Green, you're not as weird as you think! I'm a pillow switcher. I have two (at least) pillows. I lay one pillow against the cold wall and swap them through the night. So does ds

(I also keep the window open in winter)

My eye doctor told me that a pillow should be replaced yearly. It fills with allergins and can irritate the eyes.

oh ... so you're a rebel ... I see ... I think it depends on what kind of pillow as well as the cost ... the expensive down ones would be hard to replace so ... I wouldn't listen either ...
