Voice your opinion here!
I want to give a small veggie salad (in marinade) with something else that's easy for mishloach manos. I was thinking a roll or breadsticks, but I nixed them. Any other ideas? TIA!

My neighbor makes עוגיות מזרחיות (Abadi), every year, with a vegetable salad. It's the mishloach manos that gets fought over every year -in advance!

Thanks for the advice! One question, what is Abadi?

I would ask my neighbor for her recipe but it's top secret Sad I know it has beer in it so you can try to find one like that

I'm planning on a salad and mini carrot kugels. I was planning a lettuce salad with dressing on the side, but a marinated salad makes more sense. Especially with Purim on motzei shabbos.

homemade pita
its the zatila recipe posted here:
http://www.imamother.com/forum.....atila
but instead of doing the whole filling thing just roll out On a floured surface (a fist sized ball approx). roll it a drop thick and let it rise a bit
then put it on the (clean) frying pan, one side and then the other, and voila- pita!
they even open in the middle!! really simple simple simple and it tastes great.

I also sometimes make it with whole wheat flour partially...

I give a salad with flavored seltzer. (We give one moshloach manos to one person with deli and a roll to be yotzei two minim, because water is not considered a min. The mitzvah is to give one mishloach manos, so that's what we do.)

Last year I gave a salad with a small bag of seeds which can be thrown over the salad.
There is a a minhag to give seeds because that's what Ester ate in the palace.

saw a layered salad (cut up veggies but layered prettily) with dressing in a little takeout container, in a big plastic takeout cup + ice coffee in matching cup. (I feel like I wrote this very unclear)

Thank you all for the suggestions. I was thinking of a pita, bagel, etc. but then figured that most people won't want to wash for a random piece of bread.

I like the giant cookie idea because it will lay flat and be easy to package. I just have to be willing to bake it Wink

I like the seeds (or even nuts) but it wouldn't go with the recipe.

Crackers or rice cakes are nice, but I would want to find small packages that are easy to wrap with the container.

Thank you all for your ideas and thoughts. Keep them coming if you'd like. I still have to make a decision....

You could make the cookies now. Wrap and freeze them.
Candied nuts in a little cellophane bag is good too.

I know you nixed rolls, but what about garlic bread? Yummy with a salad, and you can buy the baguettes, spread the butter/margarine and garlic on them now, and freeze. Then all you have to do is bake them up the night before. To be really hearty, add a container of soup. That would be the idea MM for me to receive. Yummy and instantly edible on that day when there's no food around.

Melba toast comes a few small packs in the box. You can give one pack with each salad.

The best shaloch manos I ever got.
A salad bowl, salad tongs, a bag of pre- checked lettuce, a box of cherry tomatoes, a box of croutons, and a bottle of dressing.
Very much appreciated
