Amalia means toil for Hashem or, alternatively, nation for Hashem.
עמל is a much stronger word than עבד. It is similar to Ovadia, but not the feminine equivalent.

I think it's such an individual decision.
Meirav and Elianna don't speak to me personally, but not for any objective reason.
Go with your gut!

I think you really have to start with your own (and DH's) feelings/relatives/preferences
Daughter: mom, why did you pick my name?
Mom: some anonymous people online liked it

Meira is a cute name, Elianna is very nice but less common than Elana (or Ilana, however you spell it), which is a really pretty name that sounds similar

I like Meira and Elianna. My mom likes Shoshanna.

My DHs grandmother and I share the same name. Thus, he wants an A name.

My neighborhood is FULL of Eliana's so I'm sick of it.
I like names that are a bit more unique, but I know many friends who love the meaning of Eliana.

Atara or Aderet are nice 'a' names.

I love Eliana, because of the meaning.
