Actually, I've often found cheaper flights on the website , instead of Google flights.
Try various airlines- southwest, Frontier, etc.

Kayak.com is the best place to compare all the different airlines in terms of pricing and route options. You also have to check Southwest.com separately, because they're not included, and quite often can be the cheapest. Also make sure to take baggage fees into account (Southwest gives 2 per person for free).

Depending on your city of departure, you might get a good deal on Frontier (flyfrontier.com). Watch baggage fees. If you are in NY, see if you can get a ride to Trenton. Maybe better prices if you are flexible with dates.

If you choose frontier or spirit air, make sure you know the rules first. 1 personal item-smaller than a regular carry on. You pay for every extra besides the seat-which you pay extra for if you choose it. They can be very cheap, but can get you on the extras.

Check all nearby airports-prices vary and one airport may be cheaper from one airline, while a different airport will be cheaper with another airline.

Also, sometimes you find a cheap price for a flight on a travel site -kayak, expedia, cheapair etc. Go directly to that airlines site and s/t the flight is even cheaper there.

I love Southwest. Pleasant attitude, 2 checked bags free, easy to use their website.

Southwest also allows free changes and cancellations, unlike every other airlines which charges a fortune, if they allow you to do so altogether.

Mother4, did you find a reasonable flight to Detroit? I'm looking for Pesach from the NY/NJ area and every flight is a fortune!
