We are not big on cholent in our family and I always made a chicken dish for shabbos lunch meal. However, we are hosting a couple next week and they requested cholent.
Please share your best easy to make, but yummy cholent recipe. Smile I need enough cholent for 8 people.

Thank you so much.

Are you planning to use a crock pot, or make in advance on the stove?

For a crock-pot this is what I do:

- put a few TB of oil on the bottom
- cut the meat into bite size pieces and place on the bottm
- add a can of beans in tomato sauce on top of that
- sprinkle 2/3 cup pearl barley over that
- add one whole onion
- add two large cubed potatoes
- salt, pepper, garlic, ketcup, BBQ sauce to taste. We like a bit of curry powder too.

Add enough water to cover everything, and turn on low right before candle lighting.

For a really large cholent you can use bones, meat, 1 package soaked cholent beans, 2/3 cup pearl barley, 3-4 cut potatoes, 1 large chopped onion, 3 crushed garlic cloves, water to top. And season with even amounts brown sugar and ketchup and lots of salt.
