My sister-in-law, who I only see two or three times a year, just had surgery and rehab. She had a tumor which BH turned out to be benign. We are not close, but I would like to foster a closer relationship since this taught me how fragile life can be.
What can I get her? Any links would be helpful, thanks.

I personally got the book 'As long as I live' for a relative who wasn't well for a short period. Heres a link to the book: http://www.feldheim.com/as-lon......html

I b''H haven't had any medical issues but found this book absolutely amazing, and couldnt put it down! It gave me so much chizuk and appreciation for life.

I know the title can sound a bit intense, especially for someone who has fought an illness etc, so when I sent it to my relative I just wrote a short message saying ''I read this book and couldn't put it down. I thought you may enjoy it too.''

Hatzlocha!

If I was ill, this is what I would appreciate a lot.

I wanted to add that I'm sure the suggested book is great but she might not want to read such serious things now (with other people's traumas, illnesses etc.)

After an old friend went thru a loss, I sent a beautifully boxes scented candle with a quote on it- don't remember exactly what it said but it was something appropriate for her situation. I'm sure there are different messages on various ones you can find one that suits your purpose. It's a very small gesture, not too personal just to show you care. And you can order from Bloomingdales or a dept store with free shipping Very Happy

I was thinking to sponsor a service--cleaning help, take-out dinner, spa package etc. depending on her personality.

the little things in life make one feel better ... try several colours of essie nailpolish with a quick dry gel topcoat or a gift certificate for a manicure

anything really that could enhance good feelings for her self-esteem: perfume, make up, scarf, hat/snood, outfit, etc.

maybe new bed linen if she has a lot of recovery time ...
