This is totally something college kids would do. I've heard plenty of stories of using dishwashers to cook packages of chicken or fish and irons to make grilled cheese.

Have you ever read the halacha Sefer "Dirah Daze" (which was broadened to "Kitchen Daze")? Similar type questions such as using the dryer (or iron) to make grilled cheese, using the arm of your glasses to stir coffee, etc.
