How common is it to give three Hebrew names? We'd probably put only two on the birth certificate.

I don't know how common it is, but it certainly is done. My baby has three names, and I know of others.

My husband, father, brother and son all have 3 names.
We probably wouldn't do it again for future children- we'd probably stick with two.

How do you put three names on a birth certificate? Is it difficult in any way for you to have three legal names?

I'm French. 3 is normal. More common than 1, possibly than 2.
I don't understand how you put it? Just like any other name. Why would it be difficult in any way?
Italian jews and some chassidim have 4, 5 names. BH for nicknames/first names. Don't let anyone tell you it's any different.

Not uncommon. My sister has three names. I have a sister-in-law and a neice with three names.
One name and two are more common though. For my kids I stuck to one-two names.

My first kid has 1 name, second kid has 3 names, third kid has 2 names. I don't think it's uncommon.

My kids and I have 1 name each. Dh has 3. He uses his first name only in day to day life as well as on his birth certificate and legal documents.

My baby has 3 names and we will be giving our new baby 3 names, too. On the birth certificate it's written first name, then 2 middle names, then surname. It's long, but it fits on the line.

BTW, I only put one name on birth certificate. It's such a hassle to have a middle initial.

How is it a hassle? I have a middle name and have never felt that way.
