Trying to decide what to do. My DD(11) goes to a day camp , and so far it looks like she likes it a lot. Tomorrow she has specialist appointment at 4 PM. I told her my husband will pick her up at 3pm ( camp is 9:30 till 5). She got really upset and said she would rather stay home than leave in the middle of the day. It's not a problem as my husband is working from home, but I do not see why she has to skip most of the camp day and stay home doing nothing. She is not giving me any good reasons, except " she will feel worse if she has to leave during fun time". Should I push her to go or leave her home?

She might be embarrassed at having the other girls ask why she's leaving early. Missing a whole day is less unusual and won't raise questions.

What is the big deal? Do what your DD is most comfortable with.

I'd let her stay home. If she's enjoying it so much and she wants to stay home there must be a good reason she would rather just do it that way. I'd respect her wishes (you said it's not a big deal anyway since your husband will be home).

But that IS a good reason, when you're a kid. You'd rather not have ANY fun than leave in the middle.
