I'm downsizing into an apartment and the kitchen desperately needs to be redone.
It's a galley kitchen, and the kitchen does not have any windows.
At the far end there is a dinnette area that has a sliding door that is a balcony.
The layout will be one side meat, one side dairy, but it's not finalized since we have to see if I can get pluming on both sides.
I like a very modern look.
Tiered of beiges, browns, and wood tones, which is what I have now, and for the past 15 yrs.

What's in in kitchen cabinets and countertops
Darker cabinets, lighter countertop, vice-versa
Shiny, matte?
I'm trying to stay away from all white.
I don't like to clean too much and I feel that it's hard to maintain.
But I don't want the kitchen to look too dark either
I'm clueless when it comes to visualizing so please post pics.
If someone on here with design sense can help me out it would be appreciated.

White is always in and modern. You can always do uppers white and bottom cabinets another color. Lacquered is in a modern. But they might leave lots of fingerprints. Regular cabinets looks What about grey cabinets? Quartz counters are what most people are getting these days. They come in lots of colors but most popular and safest are one with grey veining, white with grey spots... you can see all of the available options online. Just google Quartz countertops. good luck

I'm seeing a lot of marble-look counters.

White and ivory cabinets are very popular here in Baltimore right now — but it's not what you want. Consider cherry or painted wood (not white). I see the lacquer look in magazines but it hasn't caught on in this area, at least not yet.

Do white cabinets get yellow.
Does grease show up more on the white.
I would like easy maintenance.

I was thinking of very light silvery grey cabinets with a white Quartz that has a lot of grey veins.
How would that look in a galley kitchen

Elegant or depressing.

I will be sitting in the dinette a lot because the balcony over looks a beautiful marina

Also, by the eat in area, the far end of the kitchen, I'm going to put in my pantries, floor to ceiling.

Elegent or depressing.

I just can't visualize it when all you see is a little 4x4 sample.

If someone can post pics that would be great.

Go to houzz.com and do a search in their pictures. Something in those colors should come up.
My advice is to do only drawers below the counters. So much more efficient use of space. Also the handles can give a nice sleek look.

Sounds really pretty to me. Think about lighting to brighten up the space too.

Consider doing the bottom cabinets a bit darker and the wall cabinets a tone lighter

There are some really cool new off white colors just like your describing.

I just saw them at Kitchen Connections in Brooklyn. The company is an Italian made Lusso Cucina.
You can deff go there to shop or just to look.
