I found on craigslist what looked to be like a fantastic vacation rental- maybe too fantastic because the price was75% less than other rentals for same size and location. At first I thought I got really lucky- but how could someone get that lucky. I asked for references. She sent me 3. I emailed all 3 and they all wrote back to me basically saying what a lovely apt. it is etc. The "owner" said they only go through paypal so everyone is protected. But something still did not sit right with me. I looked on line for the name of the condo and found a rental agency that deals with that exact condo and they told me the other was a scam. A really good one- to have 3 email addresses to use as references!!!! Thankfully we did not give any money etc. Just thought I would share- lesson learned -only going through real estate companies- unless those can be fake too???? Its a scary world when you don't know who you can trust.... : (
Anyone have recommendations for short term rental agency in Israel??

Could the realter be scamming you into going through him instead of direct for cheaper price?
Either way I'd be wary of unknowns and would prefer a stand up hotel or an apartment arranged for me by a relative nearby.

I doubt it- I think the owners have an agreement with the realtors and I did ask the "owner" if she ever works with a real estate company and she said no.
