Kaparos with money - sources?

Where in the text do we see kaparos can be done with money? Thank you!

Where do you see it should be done at all? It's a minhag.
Some years in Yerushalayim they ask people to use money, not chickens since they end up with too many and not enough poor people to give it to. Or something like that.
We go back and forth between money and chickens. Our neighbor uses a fish. Dh might ask about that for this year.

In my machzor it says mamon in parenthesis after tarnigol, although I'm sure that's not the original source.

Funny you would ask that. I would davka ask for the source for using a chicken. I thought that post churban we got away from the practice of animal sacrifice to atone for our sins. Uneshalmah parim sefatenu. Uteshuva, utefillah utzedakah maavirin et roah hagezerah--and underneath the word tzedakah it says in fine print "mammon".
