I am Chabad. I learned about it when we lived in Israel., in a Chabad community. Btw I was thought that you can't go if you had relations within the 3 days prior.

I don't know but this reminded me of a forgotten memory:
I lived in a chasidish area growing up (I not remotely chasidish) I remember watching all the women going Erev yk to the shield mikva across the street and saying , "yuck I'm NEVER going in Mikva, only men go." I was about 8. Then my father got serious and said, "don't say that! Take it back what you said!"
I was so confused.

I foubd Hungarian people do it more. I am a Lithuanian chasidus and we don't. Neither did my Skvere Bubbeh so yeah.

Interesting. I am Hungarian and never heard of this till this site.
