PSA.

Beware.

I bought a Kol Haolam phone card on 13th avenue in a grocery, and I called Israel w this Kol Haolam Phone Card. I used the access number on the card, then put in my pin number, I heard a recording saying I have a $10 balance, I dialed the number, and made my call.

Verizon alerted me a few hours later, saying that I made calls to Israel ON MY ACCOUNT and Im being charged $97 BY VERIZON.

Something is off with the Kol Haolam Phone Card distributed by One World Telecom.

I left a message with One World Telecom, thats located in Williamsburg.

WWYD?

If I dont get refunded for $97 minus the price of the card, which consumer agencies should I reach out to?

That is very strange. I have been using OneWorld calling cards for 12 years and never had an issue.

My mom taught me to never use a calling card with a cell phone because the rates are higher but I've never heard of this. Oy!

YES! Ive been using Phone cards for years too. I know what Im doing.
I did the same Ive been doing for years with any card Ive used.

At the end of the call I got a recording saying my balance was $9.98 (on a $10 card), which clearly showed I was connected to the Kol Haolam Phone Card throughout the call.

The price of the call didnt get deducted from the card balance, despite me using a local access number and the pin number on the card.

There clearly was a glitch somewhere with the Kol Haolam Phone Card. Something went wrong.
