I am visiting Israel and would like to get a gift for a 16 year old girl in America. Don't know her well-she is a trendy kid that is a bit more modern than bais Yaakov type. I don't think a siddur or tehillim will speak to her.
I will be in the old city and Mea Shearim looking for ideas.
Any suggestions?

How about some funky jewelry? There is lots of not too expensive delicate gold-filled jewelry that is popular now.

There is a store in the old city in the Jewish Quarter that sells T-shirts, you can put her name on it and they have a huge selection.

What is Israeli labeled chocolate? Like Elite stuff from the grocery store or is there something else?

I don’t know if this is still a popular item or not, but what about a Hodaya ring/necklace?

They're still very popular, but not cheap. There are other, smaller, ready-made products that are also available.

There are tons of souvenir shops on Ben Yehuda, look around them. You can get various t-shirts with clever slogans, Israeli versions of American classical phrases and colleges, etc.
A Hebrew version of a fun board game (like monopoly but not exclusively).
In Nachalat Shiva there is a really fun shop with pop gifts - they have a lot of cool and/ironically cheesy gifts - plenty of the stuff is localized to Jerusalem. I think that would be a great place to shop for a teen.

There is a store just up from Kikar Shabbat on the right. They personalize many different things. They have lots of towels, robes, baby blankets, washcloths... as well as door plaques. Those need to be picked up a couple days later.
