My daughters loafers got soaked through in a puddle yesterday and she complained today when she put them on that they're tight and uncomfortable. Did something happen when they dried? Is there a way to stretch them out and make them comfortable again?
Thanks!

If they are leather, I believe putting some rubbing alcohol in them does some sort of trick to stretch them.

First, soften the leather on the inside by rubbing any kind of skin lotion into it.
Next, spritz rubbing alcohol inside the tight portion of the shoe.
Third, stuff the shoes with newspaper, socks, or rags.
Fourth, let the shoes dry naturally overnight away from heat.
Repeat if need be.

In future, when shoes get wet, dry them off as soon as possible with newspaper, then stuff with more newspaper and let dry as above. Treat with lotion if stiff and scratchy when dry.
Apply mink oil waterproofing ointment at the start of the season to keep shoes resistant to sprinkles and splashes. This will not allow you to wear them for fly-fishing but may let you cross Main Street with dry tootsies.

We had a flood two years ago. Leather pumps got caught in. I put them to dry and BH they are like new.
