My diamond setting disconnected from my ring. The jeweler said it was because I'm wearing my ring to sleep. I never take it off because I'm afraid of losing it.
This is the first I've ever heard of something like this. Does anyone else here remove your diamond ring when you go to sleep?
How about other jewelry?

I only sleep with earrings.
I don't wear my ring that often. Don't want to scratch my kids when changing diapers or get it dirty when cooking, and have to take it off each time I wash my hands. I leave it in my jewelry box or a ring holder.
Same for my other jewelry other than earrings.

never wear anything to sleep. Only time I did was when I was engaged and wore my diamond ring to bed..ha!
I don't like wearing jewellery anyway , only wear earrings during the day.

Earrings are the one thing I find so uncomfortable sleeping with!

I can only sleep in certain earrings. Some of them are too sharp and poke into me when I lay down.

I couldn't imagine sleeping in a diamond ring would cause the setting to fall off.
It wasn't that the diamond fell out of the setting, the whole setting fell off of the ring!

I never wear any jewellery at all to sleep. I find it uncomfortable enough during the day, to the point that I wear my rings only for Shabbos and special occasions because otherwise they bother me so I tend to take them off and leave them in random places and I’m worried I’ll lose them.

I was taught the same thing about diamond settings so I never wear them to sleep. I have a small dish on my nightstand where they go for the night. If I feel like I need something on that finger I'll wear my plain gold band.
I sometimes sleep with hoop earrings, all other kinds (and sometimes even those) annoy me in my sleep.

Only wear my wedding band to bed. Everything else annoys me.
I wonder what on earth a person could be doing in their sleep to loosen stones?

A prong can snag on the fabric and be pulled loose. At least that's what I was taught.

That can happen pulling a sweater over your head too, no? Or drying off with a towel. I can't see how bed linen poses a greater risk. But I'm not a jeweler, so....?
