The smell of their room makes me want to GAG. I just went in their room and took every blanket, pillow and dirty sock I could find. What is UP with stinky, dirty boys and where did I go wrong????? And when will they outgrow this?

Do they shower and wear deodorant? the only one who can teach them proper hygiene is you. You can't control them when they aren't home but you must insist they follow a proper hygiene routine at home.

I don't have teenage boys, so I don't know the answer, nor can I offer any advice. But I believe this is one of those things parents complain about when their kids are around, and then really miss once the kids leave home.

Yes, they shower and yes, they wear deodorant, yes, they have sisters. It doesn't help with the stinky socks and the blankets and pillows that smell from sweat. They clean-up OK, but they seem to leave YUCKY smells behind. EW. I know I'm not alone in this b/c some of the women at work complain about the same thing...

tell them to leave their windows open when they're not home. fresh air is better than air freshener. and make sure they use flat sheets or quilt covers so you don't have to wash blankets too often.

It's making the house stink - that isn't a good enough reason?

Isn't it a no brainer?
Little kids don't stink because their mothers wash them.
Adults don't stink becuase they have the good sense to bath.
A teen is in between. He's not a child and not an adult.

some guys just sweat more. maybe change their pillow cases more often. make them change their socks 2x a day if necessary.
and teach them to do their own laundry.

Yeah, they do their own laundry. That's part of the problem. They will wait until every available clean item is used and THEN do washing. And the piled up dirty stuff STINKS.

my teen daughter doesn't stink; my teen sons don't themselves stink, but their shoes, socks, yarmulkes, pillows and everything else they use does!
the boys shower, use axe and do their own laundry. I think it's that they play harder, sweat more, have fewer shoes to choose from (dd has at least 6 pr) and hole up in their rooms longer.
dd makes an art of smelling fresh
btw, preteen dd is not so fresh......

No, I think mumoo has it. They don't stink, but everything they wear/sleep on/in does.
