Do you know if they sent rejection letters or just acceptance ones?

Based on past experience with a few teenagers, acceptance letters are mailed out before rejection letters. When my daughters' friends had already received acceptance letters-and we hadn't received any, I knew to anticipate a rejection letter.

Thank you.
So, if the school sends acceptance letters in 2 batches, the rejection letters won't come until after the 2nd batch?
Or do they send rejection letters at all?

Yes, they send the rejection letters last.
Did your daughter’s friends get acceptance letters yet?

Yes, some did. I called the school and they said there will be the 2nd round of acceptance letters.
I'm curious if there's a chance for my daughter or she was rejected. Guess, will have to wait to find out.

I looked at the rejection letter we got last year. It was dated January 9th.

Thanks. You wouldn't remember if it came after the 2nd round, would you?
May I ask where your daughter needed up going for HS?

Not sure about a 2nd round, If you don’t get it within the next few days, you can expect a rejection letter.

My daughter did end up getting accepted to Bnos Yaakov towards the end of the school year, after much heartache. This was after she got rejected from our 2nd choice also, and with lots of nudging and pressure from someone who advocated for us, as well as help from her elementary school principal.

Did you apply to another high school as well?

Thanks a lot. All this waiting is so nerve wrecking!
Yes, we applied to another one, but I think this would be the best for her because it's small and supposed to be very warm and caring.
What was your 2nd choice? Your elementary school doesn't have a HS?

BYHS was our 2nd choice. Did your daughter get accepted into her 2nd choice?

Ironically, even though they have no lack of space, BYGS is less receptive to accepting the girls who have no high school than Bnos Yaakov.

That's our other choice, too!! So bizarre, I was sure it's easy to get into BYHS cause it's such a big school and they send their acceptance letters after all others.
Was academics the problem?

Yes, academics are usually the reason for rejection. All the schools only want the A students, they’re all competing to get/uphold a reputation as the school on the highest academic level.

I sincerely hope your daughter will seamlessly get into a HS, but if she doesn’t, feel free to come back here for advice on taking the next step.

I thought BYHS accepts different academic levels?
I'd love to talk to you about it. Can I email you? I'd give you mine, but it has my name, which I don't want to post here Smile

By the way, it's simple to create a new anonymous email account if you ever want to post an email address.
